Hey everyone! Ok, so again, the original Top Ten topic wasn’t one I was particularly interested in. “Things I’d Have at a Bookish Party.” Maybe it’s because I’ve never been able to throw a bookish party, but I was having a hard time being motivated by that topic.
But characters I’d like to party with? That…that had potential. And my definition of “party” is, like many introvert’s idea of partying, means a small intimate gathering of like 10 people where there may be some light music in the background and everybody’s having a good time talking and joking with each other. Some of the characters I choose for this list would have a major problem with that, I can tell you that.
Top Ten Characters I’d Love To Be With At A Party
1. Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead)
This girl…she knows how to party, in the socially accepted definition of the word. But even though we have very different personalities, I feel like our brains are actually pretty similar. She’s pretty random and funny, which would liven up the party. She’d just be fun to talk to because you literally wouldn’t know what was going to come out of her mouth next.
2. Elisa (The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson)
Elisa is much more like me and, I think, would enjoy a quiet evening among friends. She’s thoughtful and intelligent, which would make for some really awesome in-depth conversations, which I love. We could talk about religion and politics and not get upset with each other.
3. Albus Dumbledore (the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling)
Of all the Harry Potter characters, I feel like Dumbledore would be one of the most fun to have at a party. And I do mean book Dumbledore, not movie Dumbledore. Book Dumbledore is so funny and I feel like as the only “adult” on this list, he would be able to smooth out any issues between guests and seamlessly fit into any group.
4. Wanda/Melanie Stryder (The Host by Stephenie Meyer)
I have always found the two-people-in-one-mind thing so fascinating in this story and I think I’d like to have both of them at my party. Wanda is an amazing storyteller, and she could tell incredible stories about the planets she’s been to. But Melanie would get along very quickly with Rose. They’re very similar.
5. Cath (Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell)
Cath was absolutely the girl I was my freshman year of college, so I feel an affinity with her. I seriously want to be her big sister and coach her through life stuff and help her with her fanfic and boy drama. If I could get her to open up to me or Elisa, I think she’d be ok.
6. Sodapop Curtis (The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton)
Look, I know the dynamics of a party and that not everyone should be as introverted as myself. So I’m throwing in the charming and incredibly good looking Sodapop to the list. He’s a total sweetheart.
7. Jordan Woods (Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally)
Speaking of sweethearts, Jordan is definitely not one. Essentially a tomboy, I would LOVE to talk football with Jordan. She would also probably be off with Rose and Melanie talking about beating up guys or whatever.
8. Jace Wayland (City of Bones by Cassandra Clare)
Had to invite another cute guy to this party. Jace’s humor, though, is what sold me. I could use someone else funny at this party. But I will admit, his ego would probably get pretty obnoxious after a short time.
9. Ashley (Be Not Far From Me by Mindy McGinnis)
By far the most recently written character, I think Ashley would be a good add. She’s got a deep love of nature and enjoys hiking and being in the forests of the Smoky Mountains. I would really enjoy talking to her about the trails she’s been on and some of her adventures.
10. Anna (Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins)
(Can you believe this book is now 10 years old??) Anna also used to remind me a lot of myself, so I thought she would be a good add. I think she’s sweet and being a film buff, maybe she could recommend some good ones for us to watch. Oh, and I want her to help me with my French!
